Your privacy at PERSPEK.
How we handle data when you read, write, and manage an account on PERSPEK.
Operator and scope
This policy explains how personal data is processed when you use PERSPEK at perspek.web.id. PERSPEK is operated by the PERSPEK team as a continuation of Jurnal Akademia's opinion and column space.
PERSPEK and Jurnal Akademia use the same account database. Existing identities and writing may be used to connect accounts across the two services. Login session cookies remain separate for each domain.
Information we process
When you register, we receive your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as hashes, not plain text. You may add a pen name and biography. If Google sign-in is enabled and you choose it, we receive the Google account identifier, verified email, name, and profile image supplied by Google.
When you write, we store drafts, submissions, categories, summaries, keywords, and other information you provide. Article views generate a view count and records of IP address and browser user agent. The server may also create technical logs to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
We use data to maintain accounts, authenticate users, store and review submissions, display published articles, protect the service, respond to requests, and understand readership through visit statistics.
We process data as needed to provide the service you use, meet applicable obligations, or protect legitimate operational and security interests while considering your rights. We do not sell users' personal data.
Information visible to others
When a piece is published, its title, content, date, category, author name or pen name, and author biography shown on the article may be visible to the public and search engines. Drafts and unpublished submissions are used by the author and editors for editorial work.
Account email addresses are not displayed automatically as part of author profiles. Please avoid including another person's personal data in your writing without an appropriate basis.
Other services and links
The site uses hosting infrastructure and PostgreSQL to store data. Your browser may contact Google Fonts to load typefaces. If Google sign-in is enabled and you choose it, authentication also involves Google under Google's own policies.
Links to Jurnal Akademia, publishers, or other websites take you outside PERSPEK. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them. We do not give linked websites our user email list simply because you read PERSPEK.
Retention and security
Account and submission data is retained as needed to operate accounts, manage publications, handle requests or disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Technical and visit records are kept as needed for statistics and security; there is currently no self-service automatic deletion setting.
We use HTTPS, password hashing, restricted server access, and backups. No system can guarantee absolute security. Contact us if you find a security issue or want us to review your data.
Your choices and rights
You may request access, a copy, correction, restriction, or deletion of personal data as applicable. You can update your pen name in profile settings. For other requests, including account closure, email the contact below with enough information for us to verify account ownership without asking for your password.
Requests to remove published work will be assessed in light of editorial records, the rights of others, and legal obligations. We will explain the outcome through the contact details you provide.
Policy changes
We may update this policy when features, data practices, or applicable rules change. The latest version and effective date will appear here. Material changes in data use will be communicated in a reasonable way.
